Last Week's Respite
as the rain falls steadily here in hong kong, i found myself adopting a somewhat melancholic persona. i didn't want anything to do with the outside world, i just wanted to stay underneath my blanket, i've been snippy with my husband and daughter... lethargic didn't even begin to describe me. hence, the absence in the blogging community.
last week started with some ill news from home. i don't want to elaborate on it further... it makes my head spin... let's just say that the adults in my life have been acting like children and i'm not happy about it. hopefully, it will be resolved in the coming weeks. after that, i just had no drive. i seriously needed a break from my reality. add the fact that our homesickness probable reached an all-time high at the same time, it was the great beginnings of a misery party. in the end, we settled for some clips of filipino tv shows in youtube.com and our pinings for home were momentarily sated. wednesday lifted up my spirits... it was the dragonboat festival here in hk, so no classes and work. i relished the time i spent with my husband and daughter. we forewent the dragonboat race due to crappy weather... instead, we went book shopping. i was a happy camper. the rest of the week was still dreary. friday was the worst with heavy rains... classes should've been postponed earlier... but they didn't. darn them. the red rainstorm warning was raised after anya left for school. nothing i can do but wait for 3:30p.m. i had to venture out into the downpour and commute with my somewhat soaked daughter. saturday, i barely left my bed. i just read and read... finished Golem's Eye in the Bartimaeus Trilogy in one go... so what if there's a big pile of laundry waiting... i just couldn't be bothered. my husband is definitely getting the husband of the year award the way he puts up with my, uhm, ways... and now, it's a whole new week. i started getting my energy back, even got a haircut yesterday... but as we were walking home, rain started to pour and li'l ol' me was caught in it. i had to walk very fast (can't run... might make a spectacle out of myself), UPHILL, to get to our building. now, i'm paying the consequences. i've been having some minor asthma attacks since this morning... i'm hoping it won't escalate into anything worse. i have a sore throat and i do feel the beginnings of a cold. don't you just hate it when you wake up and your throat is all dry and it's QUITE painful to swallow?!! ugh. so, this were i end my post. i'm heading back to bed and bury myself in Ptolemy's Gate. it all sounds so nice but you wouldn't want to be me right now. you do want to breathe normally, right? |
